Walk and Workshop for students on World Heritage Day

The students of First year Aayojan School of Architecture, Jaipur participated in the event ‘Exploring Chowkri Modi Khanain the Walled City of Jaipur’, an initiative for realizing the Designation of Jaipur as a UNESCO Creative city of Crafts and Folk Art under UNESCO Network of Creative Cities, on April 18, 2016, which is the World Heritage Day. This one day outreach programme had been organized by Jaipur Municipal Corporation, Government of Rajasthan in association with Dronah Foundation; Indian National Trust For Art & Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Jaipur Chapter and Jaipur Virasat Foundation for the promotion of the built heritage, arts, crafts and culture of the Walled City of Jaipur. The event comprised of a heritage walk starting from Film Colony, Chaura Rasta toRajasthan School of Arts, where a workshop was organized to make the citizens of Jaipur aware of the rich art and architectural heritage of the area. The students took active participation in the walk coordinated by Pooja Agrawal, Faculty, ASA and the workshop and competition titled ‘Nine Squares – Journey of possibilities’, curated by Dr Sangeeta Singh, Jaipur based Fine Artist and Faculty, ASA and the main scope of work involved taking inspirations from city culture, arts and crafts and how the same can be transformed into design ideas. The design entries were judged by Historian and Archeologist Dr. Rima Hoojawho also gave a talk on Rajasthan School of Arts in the courtyard of the building.
